"I was introduced to Kevin Banks as a teacher by a well respected musician/teacher who said “This is your guy”. After being amazed by my son’s progress, I decided to start lessons also. Kevin teaches with passion and has a gift for showing how theory fundamentals are applied to today’s music styles." Mick Barr, web design and photography.
"Playing music in Jacksonville is greatly enhanced by the fact that there are many great lead guitar players living here-many actually born in the area. For almost 4 decades. "I have been privileged to work with many of them. Guys that went on to play with Lynyrd Skynyrd or gave Derrick Trucks his first slide lesson-that kind of thing. If you rolled all of them into one person, you get an idea of the talent that is KEVIN BANKS! Any style, any speed, any lick-he can do it all. And probably most important-he plays with taste and knows when not to play. Now I hear he is offering his talent to those wanting to learn to play or advance their skills. I only wish I could have had him as a guitar instructor when I was starting out-man I could have been somebody!" Larry Mangum, singer songwriter guitarist "Kevin Banks is my number 1 choice for southeast guitar teachers. His experience, and love and talent for the guitar, inspires and encourages students of all ages. Learning from Kevin is like being kissed by the gods! "- Lauren Fincham, singer songwriter guitarist

If you're not listening to the Beatles and you want to be a guitar player, you should back up and start listening to them. Now maybe I'm not the biggest Beatles fan in the world. After all I don't have a vanity liscense plate with some reference to them. I don't wear any Beatles paraphanalia and they're not the only band I listen to. That being said, if you know their catalog and can play it, then you are probably a guitar player. If you know the guitar riff to Eight Days A Week or Day Tripper or Revolution or I'll Be Back, you're probably a guitar player. Their body of work encompasses 20th century guitar playing styles and will probably be the template for some time to come. I could go on and on. There's not room here for their many titles. Song One in my teaching the Beatles guitar book is Yellow Submarine. It makes you play through the cowboy chords fluently. Song two might be I Saw Her Standing There or Get Back. Take your pick. I'm just saying they are the greatest guitar teaching tool ever invented. Nuff Said. |
